Top Best Most Expensive Desktop Computer

Top Best Most Expensive Desktop ComputerTop Best Most Expensive Dekstop Computer. .This hard drive, case manufactured by a Japanese company called Zeus, costs over $748,730. Why would anyone want such an overpriced PC? Platinum, baby! As if anyone really needs it, this thing comes with a platinum or solid gold casing and is encrusted with constellation patterned diamonds. Yeah, really fancy and gawdy, but what's under the hood? According to Most Expensive, the 'Jupiter' model, comes equipped with "Intel’s 3GHz E6850 Core 2 Duo CPU, 2GB of DDR 2 memory, a 1TB hard drive and a dual Blu-Ray/HD DVD drive. Additionally, it ships with a 24” 1920×1200 native resolution monitor."

Top Best Most Expensive Desktop Computer

That sounds awesome and everything (except maybe the useless HD DVD drive, now that Blu-Ray is king), but is all that really worth almost $750K? For that money you could buy a decently sized house almost anywhere in the country. Or a membership to one of the most exclusive country clubs.

Then again, if you can fork over the ¥80,000,000 for the platinum one, maybe you can score the gold one for a cool ¥60,000,000 ($561,540).

But really, diamond encrusted constellation and platinum cases? A computer for that money should probably come with a little something extra too. Like a steering wheel. . .

Top Best Most Expensive Desktop Computer

First of all, the title cheated, it's a server, but designed in a desktop layout. Our IT department recently received a new Dekstop server-Dell Poweredge 2900, for a department in the faculty. Since it is "the most expensive" desktop computer (It cost over $10K) I have encountered so far, therefore I better take a few pictures. I am so far quite impressed by Dell's Laptop quality but never knew they can build a high quality server box with such an efficient design. The Power Edge 2900 is one of the newest and most powerful desktop servers in the market today. A lockable panel in the front prevents access to the hard drives and a small on-box LCD panel with color variations provide quick summary of the server status. The Dell Poweredge 2900 has a similar height as a normal desktop and 1/3 longer than a regular desktop.

The desktop server provide amazingly flexible storage options: you can plug in up to 8 SAS or SATA hard drives in hot-swap carriers. An optional flex-bay can be inserted in the lower of the two spare 5.25in bays above, with its own backplane and interface.

Top Best Most Expensive Desktop ComputerThere are six easily removable fans providing a good access of air through the interior front to back, for the purpose of cooling the monster down: 5050 Xeon processor mounted on it, both sockets have dedicated fans and the (max. up to 48GB) memory slots also have dedicated fans. It’s got a dual 93w hot-swap power supplies in case of one breaks down.

Unfortunately, it is "too noisy" for anyone to hide it under the desk. Therefore, it still needs to go into a server room. But it certainly got the "Ferrari" look.

On a lark, I went out to the Apple Store and priced the most expensive G5 Dekstop on the planet. So what will $23,857.00 get you nowadays? Everything, and the kitchen sink from Apple buys you a 2.5Ghz Quad-core PowerPC G5 with 16GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage, Quadro FX 4500 graphics card with 512MB of memory, 16X dual-layer Superdrive, and two 30" Apple Cinema HD displays. Important to note: shipping on your new car Dekstop is free. Full specs after the jump.

World’s Most Expensive Gas Price in the US 2011

4:18 AM

World’s Most Expensive Gas Price in the US 2011World’s Most Expensive gas price in the US 2011. Most people fill up their tank during the daily life and never sit down and total up how much money they spend on their expensive gas fuel. As the production of oil is seems to be nearing its peak, there have been expensive gas prices for all of us.

Those of us who live in the continental United States have a leg up on our island-dwelling brethren who live in the paradise of Hawaii: gas prices. As a result of the immense cost of shipping thousands of weighty barrels of fuel across the pacific ocean, gas prices in Hawaii are roughly 20% higher than those in the mainland, giving Hawaii the dubious honor of having the most expensive gas in the US.

World’s Most Expensive Gas Price in the US 2011

Hawaii’s state public utilities commission enacted a gas price cap law on September 1, 2005 in an effort to curtail sharply rising prices on the islands. The cap is changed weekly, and is based upon average prices for regular unleaded in Los Angeles, New York City, and the Gulf Coast region. The gas cap was imposed despite much opposition, both from industry opponents and consumers who failed to see how the cap would reduce prices. However, the point of the cap is not actually to reduce prices. By linking Hawaii’s gas prices to those on the mainland, the utilities commission hopes to eliminate price fixing that would unfairly increase the cost of filling up for the state’s citizens. Public figures are hopeful that the cap will work and perhaps, eventually, give Alaska the title of most expensive gas in the United States.

Next week’s retail gas prices are predicted to range from $3.40 a gallon for regular on Oahu to $3.77 on Lanai, according to reports from Honolulu’s Star-Bulletin. The state average price for the most expensive gas in the US is $3.24 a gallon, 32 cents higher than the national average. Biggest One-Week Oil Price Rise in Two Years Hits Consumers ... the state with the most expensive gas in the country – sometimes triple the ... The state with the least expensive gas is Wyoming, at $2.98 a gallon.

World’s Most Expensive Gas Price in the US 2011

Gas prices in Turkey rose by 0.09 Turkish Liras per liter on Wednesday, according to data gathered by the Anatolia news agency.

Shell, a leading distributor in the country, raised the price for one liter of 95 octane gas to 4.03 liras from 3.95 in Istanbul and Ankara, to 4.02 from 3.94 in Izmir and to 4.11 from 4.03 in Van.

Petrol Ofisi, Opet and BP, other leading distributors, implemented similar price increases.

A liter of 97 octane gas rose to between 4.06 and 4.17 liras.

The prices differ slightly from city to city and company to company.

People in Turkey consume the most expensive gas among European countries, at nearly 1.90 euros per liter. Greece follows Turkey with gas prices at 1.58 euros, according to official figures by the Energy Ministry.

In Belarus, the cheapest gas country on the continent, gasoline prices are only around 0.62 euros per liter. According to AAA, the current average gas price in America is $2.68 a ... The World's Most Expensive Gas: Asmara, Eritrea: $9.59/gallon.

World’s Most Expensive Gas Price in the US 2011

Driving a luxury car has its perks. Like extreme tush comfort. And basking in the envy of others. But it usually comes at a cost, and not just the one on the window sticker at the dealership. Odds are that your luxury barge will get lower gas mileage, and that you’ll probably be slapped with a gas-guzzler tax as well.

But at least fuel prices aren’t what they used to be, right? According to AAA, the current average gas price in America is $2.68 a gallon for regular unleaded fuel. That’s not even a dime more than gas cost a year ago, which is a far cry from the nation’s record high of $4.11 a gallon back in July of 2008. So I guess we should be grateful. I mean, some parts of Europe are paying well over double our national average.

So why’s there such a big price discrepancy for the same product? Well, besides the availability of gas in different regions, gas prices are heavily influenced by the government’s role in setting the price of gas. For example, in Venezuela, where gas costs as little as six cents a gallon, gasoline is heavily subsidized making it much more affordable. On the other hand, here in the U.S., we pay a federal tax of 18 cents per gallon plus any additional state or local taxes charged by our local municipalities. And while our gas prices may be creeping higher, I’ll still take the U.S. prices over what most of Europe is paying.

Check out our lists of the world’s highest and lowest gas prices:

The World’s Most Expensive Gas:

  1. Asmara, Eritrea: $9.59/gallon
  2. Oslo, Norway: $7.41/gallon
  3. Copenhagen, Denmark: $6.89/gallon

World’s Most Expensive Public Works Project 2011

3:54 AM

World’s Most Expensive Public Works Project 2011World’s Most Expensive Public Works Project 2011. In 1991, ground was first broken for the Central Artery/Third Harbor Tunnel Project. The project was meant to reroute the chronically congested Central Artery (I-93) in Boston, Massachusetts, through a 3.5 mile tunnel under the city for a projected cost of $2.8 billion. Over the course of the project’s duration, the project became colloquially known as the “Big Dig” and its cost escalated to over $14 billion, making the Big Dig the most expensive public works project in the nation. The Most Expensive Public work project Project in the History of California. Just a reminder that the Bay Bridge will be closed starting tonight, September 3, King County's most expensive public-works project ever, the $1.75 billion Brightwater sewage-treatment plant, is about to drive the region's

World’s Most Expensive Public Works Project 2011
Originally conceived in the 1970s by the Boston Transportation Planning Review, official planning for the project didn’t begin until the early 80s. In 1987, US Congress passed a bill, later overriding a veto by President Reagan, appropriating funds for the Big Dig.

The project suffered from numerous setbacks. The tunnel itself was dug in an area of pipes, utility lines, subway lines and landfills. Additionally, leaks, findings of substandard materials followed by criminal arrests and even a fatal accident have all shut down parts of the project at various points in time.

The most expensive public work project project in the US was supposedly finished at the end of 2007. However, as of January 2008, 237 serious leaks are being reported as going unchecked.

World’s Most Expensive Public Works Project 2011

King County's most expensive public-works project ever, the $1.75 billion Brightwater sewage-treatment plant, is about to drive the region's already-pricey sewer rates much higher.

The cities and sewer districts whose customers are paying the tab are getting cranky about the cost — which doubled even before construction began — and the likelihood that the bill will rise beyond current official forecasts.

Seattle and most of King County's 35 other wholesale customers — mostly cities and sewer districts — have balked at extending their contracts for sewage treatment without a guarantee that the county will stick to its policy of having owners of new homes and businesses pay 95 percent of the cost of Brightwater — which is being built to accommodate growth.

Seattle, which serves 42 percent of King County's sewer customers and doesn't want to pay for the growth in outlying areas, is playing a central role in the dispute.

One result of the five-year-old contract impasse is higher bills. Because the current contracts expire in 30 years, King County can't sell 35-year bonds, which would spread debt payments over a longer period.

The longer the dispute goes on, the shorter the bonds and the higher the sewer rate. The county wants to extend the wholesale contracts to 2056.

World’s Most Expensive Public Works Project 2011

Just this year, selling 30-year bonds instead of 35-year bonds pushed up next year's sewer rate by an extra 28 cents a month, according to the county.

Construction began earlier this year on Brightwater, King County's third regional sewage plant. Located in fast-growing Snohomish County near Woodinville, the plant will treat waste from new and existing customers in both counties, but growth is driving the project. It is scheduled to open in 2010.

Sewer rates were high even before Brightwater.

The $307 King County charged to cities and sewer districts to treat sewage for each household in 2005 was well above the national average of $209 and the national median of $182, according to a survey by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies.

World’s Most Expensive Health Care System 2011

3:12 AM

World’s Most Expensive Health Care System 2011World’s Most Expensive Health Care System 2011 Treating and preventing illnesses and maintaining physical well-being is an important and fast-growing industry in developed nations. Nations around the world have adopted different approaches to funding and organizing their systems of health care, some using publicly funded with the public paying most of the costs. health care gnp comparisons, the u s health care system best in the world or just the most expensive 2011, public health care GNP in 2010 united

The United States has the most expensive health care system in the world, and the health care costs continue to increase. 2004 Government figures show that health care spending reached 1.9 trillion dollars or about 16 percent of the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP). In 2003 health care costs including hospitals, doctors, nursing homes, laboratories, pharmacies, and other parts of the health care care system amounted to 15.3% of the GDP.

The expensive health care is not unique to the United States, as health care costs average over 10% of GDP for most developed nations. The debate will continue about what causes the U.S. to continue to have the most expensive health care system.

World’s Most Expensive Health Care System 2011

America has the best health care system in the world, said Bob Dole and the other executioners of health care reform. Once upon a time that claim was true. Now what America has is the most expensive health care system in the world, in spite of the fact that it leaves one-third of its citizens un- or under-insured and ranks 17th of the 24 industrialized nations in life expectancy.

The major reason for the high expense and poor performance is that we are moving rapidly toward an unholy combination of government and corporate health care care management. That trend is well documented by Robert Sherrill in the January 9/16 issue of The Nation. Sherrill draws together 11 recent books and articles on drug companies, insurers, hospitals, and doctors. He shows a system that views patients as consumers to be manipulated, health workers as costs to be minimized, and taxpayer support as gold to be mined.

World’s Most Expensive Health Care System 2011

Here are just a few of Sherrill's startling statistics:

- The top executives of the the nation's four largest hospital chains earned a combined one-year total of $14 million, while they were firing housekeepers and nurses and working the remaining nurses 80 hours a week, so as to pay only one set of benefits for the equivalent of two workers. These hospitals rent "temp" nurses, when patient loads rise. The temps may be unqualified, but they don't get benefits and can be laid off quickly.

- Four corporations own seven out of ten of the nation's for-profit psychiatric beds. They treat only insured patients. The treatments take, with remarkable regularity, 28 days -- the cut-off for most employee insurance policies. Some of the major investors in these psychiatric hospitals are insurance companies.

- Private hospitals close emergency rooms to keep out uninsured patients. Meanwhile at public emergency rooms like that of the Los Angeles County Hospital, the average wait is three hours, and 40 percent of the patients are uninsured.

- In the 1980s 550 community hospitals failed. Meanwhile the Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corporation grew from 30 to 311 hospitals in just 14 months. Columbia/HCA's goal is to own a fifth of the nation's hospitals by the year 2000.

World’s Most Expensive Health Care System 2011

- There were 7,000 deaths because of poor hospital care in one year in New York State alone. About four percent of all hospital patients are injured in some way by the hospital. The medical staff in one hospital made mistakes in drug dosage one out of every three times.

- Medicare and Medicaid fraud by hospitals, doctors, and drug companies costs taxpayers $100-$130 billion a year.

- Hospitals routinely bill Medicare, insurance companies, and patients $8 per aspirin or $20 per box of tissues. More serious overbilling occurs at for-profit hospitals than at public hospitals. One private hospital in Georgia charges on average $14,582 to treat a stroke victim; a nearby public hospital charges $6,735 for the same service and same length of stay.

- In Florida 40 percent of the doctors own their own testing facilities. Patients of lab-owning doctors are subjected to almost twice as many tests as patients of other doctors, and the charge per test is more than twice as high. Doctors who own MRI imaging equipment order four times more MRI scans than doctors who don't.

World’s Most Expensive Health Care System 2011

- American doctors are six times more likely to perform cardiac bypass operations than doctors in Europe; two to three times more likely to perform hysterectomies, twice as likely to do cesarean sections. American doctors take more X-rays per patient and give higher doses of drugs. This medical aggressiveness does not produce higher survival rates, only higher costs.

- Only one in eight of the patients who experience medical malpractice actually sues; only half of those who sue receive settlements. Malpractice suits account for less than one percent of the soaring cost of U.S. health care.

- The average wholesale price of drugs in the U.S. is 32 percent higher than it is in Canada. Almost 40 percent of medicines are sold to people over the age of 60, and 40-50 percent of those medications are unnecessary or even harmful. Each year more than 650,000 elderly Americans are hospitalized because of reactions to prescribed medications.

- Two drugs are used to counter blood clots in coronary arteries: streptokinase at $200 a dose and t-PA at $2,200 a dose. The larger seller is t-PA, not because it is more effective, but because it is better marketed.

World’s Most Expensive Health Care System 2011

- Of every dollar in health insurance premiums Americans pay, 37 cents goes to insurance company overhead.

- Canada's national health care system covers 25 million people using fewer administrators than Massachusetts Blue Cross, which covers 2.7 million. The average American doctor hires twice as many people to handle paperwork as the average Canadian doctor.

- The answer to soaring costs is supposed to be health maintenance organizations, or HMOs. But premiums in American HMOs are rising twice as fast as costs, patients' choice of doctors and treatments is limited, waiting times are increasing, and services are cut to the bone. HMOs are not "managed competition;" they are anti-competitive monopolies.

Our health care care system is wildly profitable for its owners, at enormous cost to patients, workers, and taxpayers. If it is the best health care system in the world, it is so only because the more one knows about it, the more one resolves to take very good care of oneself, in order never to have to go near it.

Most Expensive Supercomputer in the US 2011

Supercomputers are the fastest and most expensive computers in the World.

They can cost over a hundred million pounds to build and very few organisations can afford to purchase one. They are mainly used by large universities who do a lot of research projects such as scientific research, weather modelling etc and by large organisations such as pharmaceutical companies for drug research or by the military for weapons research.

Whilst supercomputers are working, they generate so much heat that they need to be housed in specifically designed rooms with environmental controls and air conditioning systems. It is vital that the atmosphere is kept free of dust particles and special filters are used to keep the air clean.

There may be many miles of cables which connect the computer to various peripherals. In order to hide the cables, false floors and ceilings are often needed.

Supercomputers usually need their own back up electricity generator to ensure that they can continue to work even when there is a power failure.
